Building a Farm

Valhalla had humble beginnings – it was originally a field laced with pesticides, surrounded by suburbia.

We planted a tree in the field that was intended for GMO corn and soya, and promised ourselves that we would transform this land into a farm with healthy practices and a thriving community. Over the years, we’ve been using natural permaculture and market gardening principles to restore the soil and continue the transformation into an eco-village – a community that funds itself, and produces its own food, water, power, and network of people who work, dream, and create together.

We’re still close to life in Montreal (in fact, part of our roughly 80 acres border on neighborhoods), but we hope to provide a both retreat and a new way forward for our city.
